Children and Families Bill

In December 2014 Merton Mencap was commissioned by the London Borough of Merton to carry out a consultation with SEN children and young people about the new Children and Families Bill.  Merton Mencap came into film students at Perseid and across the borough. They have completed the consultation and sent it to Merton Council with the hope that the Council will act on the recommendations. Merton MENCAP will keep us updated regarding progress.

Upper School KS3 Art Work

During the spring term blue and red pathway KS3 pupils learnt about using a view finder during their Life Events unit of work in Art.  Each pupil created a beautiful art work (paint on canvas).  They each sectioned their canvas into five areas, over the second half term they chose a picture a week that they used for inspiration; they used a view finder to choose the specific area of the picture they were focussing on and painted their interpretation of it on one of the five sections.  Six pieces were anonymously chosen and are now displayed in the reception area.  The pupils are proud of their work and the art work has received many compliments from staff and visitors

The project includes regular workshops with the visiting musicians in which students have the opportunity to explore a range of stringed instruments, music technology and keyboard instruments.
